• Modelling And Analysis of Vortex Induced Vibrations for Power Generation:

This low cost mechanical engineering mini project is actually a research project. The main aim of this research project is to study the vibrations induced by the vortices produced as flow moves past a stationary cylinder and to develop the appropriate power functions and to subsequently use these functions to generate electrical energy. Using ANSYS Fluent and CFX, LES turbulence model can be used to simulate the flow over a circular cylinder and results can be compared to experiments performed by Khallak& Williamson (Journal of Fluids and Structures, 1996).

• Design of Load Controller for a Micro Hydro Turbine:

Micro hydro turbines are installed in many hydroelectric power plants all over the world. As water intake cannot be controlled very precisely on all these turbines so it produces random jerks and abrupt changes in turbine speed which decrease efficiency. The main aim of the project is to design a device that keeps the speed of the turbine shaft constant in spite of the varying load on the turbine, by varying the flow rate.
