Dear friends I am an aspirant for mechanical engineering. I have narrowed down my choices to either study mechanical engineering or electronics engineering. I have asked a lot about these two fields from my friends and relatives and I have found myself interested in them. Actually my future interest lies in robotics. So in order to fulfill my future dream, I want to do mechanical engineering or electrical engineering. Can you guys please tell me if I am right about my choice? Will I be able to pursue my career further into robotics after bachelors in mechanical or electrical engineering? Which among these two is the best and provides better learning about robots?

Mechanical engineering and electrical/electronics engineering are equally good for future career path in robotics. Actually both of these engineering disciplines are completely opposite in courses. Mechanical or electrical/electronics engineering both require completely different aptitude. Mechanical engineering is more study towards math and physics involving machines, motions and their working etc. while electronics/electrical engineering is all about electrical connects within a machine.

Study of robotics is half mechanical half electronics engineering. so it's equally good both for mechanical as well as electronics/electrical engineers.

Thank you very much for a detailed reply. I shall do BS in mechanical engineering and then i shall do MS in robotics. Thank you very much Indeed.
